Bolivar Missouri is the county seat of Polk County Missouri, with a population of just over 9,000 people. Bolivar has the only Polk County Missouri hospital, Citizens memorial Hospital and University, Southwest Baptist University respectively. Small town values abound in Bolivar, Missouri. You can drive 60 miles south of Polk County Missouri and get to Branson Missouri. There you can find e numerous Country Music Shows, Silver Dollar City, Marvel Cave, and Lake Taney Como.

Polk County Missouri is an agricultural area just north of Springfield Missouri with land to farm, hunt, fish, hike, and ride horses. Polk county and the surrounding counties has numerous dairy farms, beef farms and poultry farms Polk County has several river bottom farms, as Pomme De Terre River runs across the county from Greene County through Polk County to Hickory County Missouri. Bolivar Missouri is within 25 miles of Pomme De Terre or Stockton Lake. Also to the South is McDaniel Lake and Springfield Lake.
